Doulananda Birth Services and Jennifer Mendoza Photography are happy to announce our new partnership! Because we share a passion for celebrating and supporting families, we are joining forces to provide photography services to Doulananda HypnoBirthing students and doula clients.

With our likeminded approach to creating experiences that honor each of our clients as individuals, we think that our collaboration is a great fit and benefit to Doulananda families. Each family will receive credit for one maternity or newborn session with Jennifer Mendoza Photography. This is a $300 value, but is complimentary to you with the price of tuition, or doula fee.

The phases of pregnancy, birth, and new parenthood are among the most beautiful and fleeting in our lives. Together we are committed to making it a positive and joyful experience that will be captured and cherished for generations.

If you are expecting, or may be in the near future, I encourage you to consider taking a HypnoBirthing class, or consulting with one of their doulas. I did both, with my last pregnancy, and with beautiful results! I’m thrilled at the thought of the families and babies that I will get to meet as a result of this partnership.

I’ve had the greatest luck finding two inspiring locations for my first ever mini session days. I am so looking forward to playing and working with your kids and families there! In Jacksonville, we will be on a family farm on the north side of town that provides big open spaces as well as beautiful old trees and landscapes. For Atlanta, we will be at a newly and beautifully landscaped home in Decatur. I am thrilled to get to see so many of your happy faces at once, and to capture your families in time for the holiday season.

Basic Mini Session fee of $200 includes

• 20 minute session at a private location

• 3 high resolution digital images

Premium Mini Session Package, $450, includes all of the above, plus

• all images from session (10 to 20) on a disk

• 25 5×7” custom holiday cards

I had to revive the long neglected blog to share an event I had the priveledge of photographing recently. You may remember this family from when I recorded Dad’s homecoming back in 2009. This time they are preparing to move again, the entire family (eventually), and this day was just one of several to commemorate the end and beginning of an era.

Crying youngest and all, can’t you just tell that this is one dynamic family?

Fall has been my busiest season in the past, with so many wanting portraits for holiday presents and cards, not to mention taking advantage of the cooler temperatures. Just like all of you, in addition to work, my time in the fall is FULL with school, sports, holiday and other activities so it is a great idea to plan ahead. In order to qualify, I will ask for a 50% deposit and a  tentative commitment to a date and time.

For those of you who took advantage of my holiday offer in the past, this means you could get a full session for the same price of last year’s mini-session.  Whereas the mini-sessions tend to be geared more towards getting “the” image for the Christmas card or Grandmother’s gift, a full session is an opportunity for us go farther and get a wider variety of images, in addition to that great group shot.

Not being a native to Florida, it took me a while to come to grips with the fact that the only real fall colors we see here are on the little decorative flags people hang on their houses and maybe the faux foliage that you see in classrooms and gift shops.

However, school, football, and soccer have all officially started. So, yes, it is fall!

If this time of year at your house is anywhere near as crazy as it is at mine, then this also means that the holidays will be here before you know it! She sings, she dances, she’s bilingual, she’s charming, and she’s a SURVIVOR. I could eat her up.

Not to mention the glasses!

Miss R is a Patrons of the Hearts beneficiary, and the newest member of an amazing family. If you are not familiar with POTH, check them out. It is truly an admirable organization.

This week, I had the pleasure of photographing some young heart patients who are benefiting from the incredible work of Patrons of the Hearts. POTH helps children from around the world. These kids in particular are from Liberia, Morocco, and Grenada. Despite the challenges these families have already endured and still have ahead of them, smiles were plentiful on this morning. These pictures were taken at the Ronald McDonald House, another great organization that partners with POTH to care for the families while they are away from home.

This young guy came off as an average teenager. Kind of shy, sweet, and trying hard to be cool. But then I spoke with his mom and realized that his life does not conform to our idea of average at all. After coming to Jacksonville from Monrovia, Liberia for successful heart surgery, they’ve been told that they need to return annually for check ups because there is no adequate care in his home. His mother wonders how that will be possible with the lack of funds, support and reliable communication (phones, internet). But for now, she’s grateful for his health.

This family, from Morocco, has been here since the beginning of the year and is still not close to going home.

This sweety from Grenada barely spoke a word to me, but she clearly LOVED getting her picture taken!

This pretty girl may have had the biggest smile of the group. She and her mom were headed home to Grenada the next day. So smart and well spoken, she was looking forward to the homecoming party that she knew was waiting for her!

I LOVE our downtown library. And I love these signs that say “Start here. Go anywhere.” with T and the girls underneath. This would be a great spot for an engagement pic, too.

Here was my fortune from my Mother’s Day dinner.

It reads, “This is a good time for you to take a risk. You will succeed.” It has been four months now since I attended Me Ra’s workshop and decided to take on this new photography adventure.  In many ways I jumped in prematurely. I still have so much to learn and figure out, including what “success” will look like. But I’m so enjoying the ride. Thanks to everyone who has encouraged, advised and worked with me so far.

I am working on building my portfolio, so from now through the end of April, I am offering FREE PORTRAIT SESSIONS!! I’m looking for kids of all ages, genders and ethnicities, as well as pregnant moms. Prints are not included, but you will recieve a FREE digital slideshow to share with all your friends.
