My name is Jennifer Mendoza Stanelle. I photograph families, from newborns to great, great grandparents.

My goal is to create a portrait with you that captures where your family is in this moment in time, whether that is diapers, little league, braces, or beyond. My photographs are about you.

Visit my Portfolio pages for samples of my work. Keep in mind that if you choose to work with me, your photos will not be reproductions of what you see there. Your portraits will be as unique as your family. Just like you, my work is always evolving.

Follow me here on the blog (posts are below). You can also join me on Facebook or Twitter, and more recently on Pinterest. In addition to photography, I am interested in being the best wife, mom, sister, friend, daughter and member of my community - locally and globally - I can be. I don't claim to be superwoman, by any means. It's a crazy juggling act in which I'm doing the best I can. Occasionally, I will blog about things that relate to those topics as well.

And to answer one of the questions I get asked most: You can call me Jen, Jenny, Jennifer, Mendoza or Stanelle. I get and respond to them all!

Long and Lean!

Can this really be my child? According to her last doctor visit, VC’s in the 90th percentile for height and 25th for weight! And yet, she can’t seem to eat enough. That part she probably got from me. At almost eight months – so hard to believe she’s already eight months! – she’s healthy and happy, and that’s all that really matters. That, and the fact that she sleeps pretty reliably from about 8pm to 6 or 7 am. In her crib. Amen to that! Recently she figured out how to clap and is so proud of herself that she can’t stop. And, yes, the sound of “dada” has T grinning from ear to ear every time he hears it. At first I was in denial…”I think that was more of a Ba, or Ga….” To compensate, she blesses me with more slobbery kisses. “Kiss” is one of the words she appears to recognize, along with milk, change and tickle. The essentials in a young life.

On the big girl front, CM seems to be moving away from the afternoon nap. A moment of silence, please. I am in mourning over this. Still trying to enforce it at home, but she was throwing fits about going to preschool and we finally deduced that it was because she didn’t want to nap or be forced to hang out “with the babies.” A few emails were exchanged, and now that she gets to go to do crafts after lunch, all is well in preschool land again. I, on the other hand, don’t know how I’ll ever squeeze a phone call, shower, or quiet moment into our “mommy days” again. Alas, my mommy days with the big girl are numbered as Kindergarten is just around the corner. So I’ll put up with being (even moreso than usual) dirty, tired and out of touch while I savor my days with her.
